Asare Kofi Killed in Portland Pedestrian Accident
The 47-year-old man died days after being struck by a vehicle near Southeast 101st Avenue
Asare L. Kofi, 47, was killed in a pedestrian crash near Southeast Division Street and Southeast 101st Avenue in Portland on Aug. 6, according to police.
The collision occurred just before 12:30 a.m. when a vehicle struck the man in the road. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Paramedics rushed Kofi to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries and died on Wednesday, police announced.
Oregon pedestrian death have risen sharply over the long term, with state data showing a 106% increase in recent years compared to historical averages.
The investigation remains ongoing. No charges have been announced.
