Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Accident News is a digital news publication at www.accidentnews.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you give us

We only collect personal information you choose to send us through a form:

  • Case evaluation requests: your name, email, phone number, and the details of your inquiry.
  • Crash report requests: your name, phone number, optional email, the state and date of the crash, and your relationship to it.
  • Correction and removal requests: your name, email, and the details of the correction you are reporting.

When you submit a case evaluation form to a law firm that advertises on this site, we also keep a record of the consent you gave to be contacted, including the exact wording shown to you and the time you agreed to it.

2.2 Information collected automatically

We do not run analytics or tracking on the site. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure and running. We do not use this to build a profile of you.

Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells people apart from automated programs that send junk. When you open a form, Cloudflare sees basic details about your browser and connection to run that check. To stop one visitor from flooding a form, we also keep a scrambled code made from your IP address for one day. The code cannot be turned back into your address, and it is never stored with what you sent us.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiry, correction, or removal request.
  • To send a case evaluation you submit to the attorney or law firm identified in the advertisement you responded to.
  • To keep the site secure and to prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

Attorney advertisements are matched to the location and topic of the article you are reading. They are not based on tracking your activity.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:

  • Attorney advertisers: if you submit a case evaluation form, your contact details and inquiry are sent to the attorney or law firm named in that advertisement. From that point their own privacy policy governs how they use your information.
  • Service providers: companies that host the site or deliver email on our behalf, under contract, and only to provide that service.
  • Legal compliance: when required by law, subpoena, court order, or a government request.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.

5. Your Privacy Rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you have sent us at any time. Use the contact details in the Contact section below.

Residents of California and of other states with comprehensive privacy laws (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others) have rights to know, delete, and correct the personal information a business holds about them, and the right not to be discriminated against for using those rights. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will verify your request and respond within the time your state's law requires.

6. Data Retention

We keep the information you send us only as long as we need it to handle your request and to meet legal obligations, then we delete it. When a case evaluation is sent to an attorney, the copy they receive is kept under their own retention policy, not ours.
