About Us

Our Mission

Accident News is an independent newsroom covering accidents across the United States. We pair timely, verified reporting with analysis and practical resources for the people those accidents affect.

Every report starts from published news coverage and runs through a consistent editorial process built for accuracy and transparency.

Our Methodology

Each article follows a five-step process:

1. Source Identification

Reportable incidents are identified from published news coverage by local and national outlets.

2. Data Extraction

Key details such as location, date, parties involved, severity, and contributing factors are extracted and structured from the reporting we cite.

3. Cross-Referencing

Facts are cross-checked against the news reports we cite. Location and incident details are verified against that reporting. Victim names are used only when they already appear in published coverage.

4. Report Generation

Verified details are assembled into a structured news report using AI-assisted writing tools, following AP style and our internal editorial standards.

5. Quality Review

Our team reviews every article before publication for accuracy, fairness, legal compliance, and adherence to our standards.

Every report is drawn from published news coverage by local and national outlets, and each article lists the specific reports it draws on under Sources.

Accuracy & Corrections

Accuracy is foundational to our mission. Every article carries a link to report an error, and our correction and removal form lets you tell us what is wrong or ask to have a name or detail taken down. We check each request against the reporting we cited, then update the article or remove the detail.

What we correct

Minor fixes for small errors, material corrections for anything that changes the meaning of a report, and full retractions when a report should not stand.

Removal requests

Because our reports name people involved in accidents, anyone named can ask us to remove or anonymize their details through the same form. We weigh each request against the public record and the published coverage, and respond directly.

Independence & Legal Analysts

Our reporting decisions are based on newsworthiness and public interest. How we are funded is explained in our Ethics & Advertising Disclosure.

We also work with experienced attorneys who provide legal context on the incidents we cover:

  • They provide general educational commentary, not personalized legal advice.
  • Their quotes and analysis are fact-checked by our team.
  • Any advertising relationship is disclosed in that same policy.
