Christopher Rupley Killed in Toledo Motorcycle Accident
The 71-year-old rider died at the scene following a collision with a left-turning vehicle
Christopher Rupley, 71, of Toledo, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Byrne Road near Glanzman Road in South Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, according to police.
Paramedics pronounced the rider dead at the scene after a southbound car attempted a left turn and collided with the northbound bike. The 21-year-old driver of the second vehicle was not reported injured.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities. No charges have been announced.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), fatal motorcycle crashes in the state rose 10% in 2023, reaching their highest level in a five-year period.

Ohio wrongful death statute
Under Ohio Rev. Code § 2125.01, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. Ohio applies modified comparative fault (51% bar). The statute of limitations is 2 years.
