Donaciano Hernandez Killed in Peoria Accident

Head-on collision on North Allen Road is latest fatality in Peoria County traffic data
Donaciano Jimenez Hernandez, 21, and Maria Del Rosario Cortes Salinas, 25, both of Peoria, died Thursday in a head-on crash on North Allen Road near West Altorfer Drive, police said. Hernandez and Salinas were in one of two vehicles that collided head-on, according to the Illinois State Police. Both were wearing seatbelts. Hernandez died at the scene, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. Salinas was taken to a hospital where she died Friday morning. Two other people, including an infant who sustained minor injuries, were also taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available. The Illinois State Police is investigating the crash.
The Peoria Fire Department and Illinois State Police responded to the 9:42 p.m. call on North Allen Road. Emergency responders confirmed that Donaciano Jimenez Hernandez died at the scene, while Maria Del Rosario Cortes Salinas was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries where she later succumbed to them. Two other individuals, including an infant, were also hospitalized; the infant's injuries were reported as minor. Accident reconstruction specialists from the Illinois State Police are currently analyzing physical evidence from the vehicles and the roadway. No charges have been announced as the investigation continues.
