18-year-old Mark Morris High School senior dies in single-vehicle rollover on Maranatha Road
Elden Ragsdale, 18, of Longview, was killed in a single-vehicle rollover car accident on Maranatha Road near Rose Valley Road east of Kelso, Cowlitz County, Washington, on Saturday, April 18, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred on a private gravel roadway. A 1994 Toyota 4Runner lost control, veered off the road and flipped onto its side, trapping a passenger underneath the vehicle.
Ragsdale died at the scene. Three other teenage passengers were taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle with no apparent serious injuries.
The 19-year-old driver remained at the scene and was detained for a blood draw. Investigators suspect alcohol played a role in the crash, and the driver was released pending toxicology results.
