National Legal Analyst Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that "I've seen families shattered by the physics of a high-speed impact that simply wasn't survivable. Speed differential is actually a better predictor of severity than how fast the cars were originally going."
In South Carolina, when a motor vehicle accident results in a fatality, family members may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim against the negligent party. Under state statutes, these claims seek to recover compensation for funeral expenses, medical bills incurred prior to death, lost financial support, and the emotional loss of companionship. Liability in intersection collisions often hinges on right-of-way violations and the failure of a driver to maintain a proper lookout. A prompt legal analysis is essential to ensure that sensitive evidence, such as electronic data from vehicle control modules and witness statements, is preserved for litigation. Families are encouraged to consult with an experienced professional to navigate the complexities of South Carolina's probate and civil court systems.
