Gem Scott Killed in Columbus Pedestrian Accident
The 5-year-old girl was struck by an eastbound vehicle while crossing the street with her family
Gem Scott, 5, of Columbus, was killed in a pedestrian crash on East Broad Street near Outerbelt Street late Friday, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
The eastbound vehicle struck the girl at approximately 11:10 p.m. as she crossed the road with her family just outside Reynoldsburg city limits. Paramedics rushed Scott to Mount Carmel East in critical condition. Doctors later pronounced her dead at the hospital.
The driver stopped. Police said the drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The Columbus Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is handling the case.
No charges were immediately announced.
