Ismael Aleman Killed in Alamo Hit-and-Run Accident

Ismael Aleman killed in pedestrian hit-and-run accident on West Frontage Road, Alamo, Texas

Miguel Angel Salinas appeared in court on March 13 after week-long investigation into crash

Ismael Aleman, 43, died after a vehicle hit him in a hit-and-run crash on West Frontage Road in Alamo on Friday, March 6, police said. The crash happened in the 1300 block of West Frontage Road, near the Alamo Rec and RV Park, according to the department. A vehicle hit Aleman as he walked near the frontage road at about 3:30 a.m. The driver fled the scene, police said. He died at the scene. Police arrested Miguel Angel Salinas, 63, and charged him with manslaughter and tampering with evidence, authorities said. Police also issued a warrant for Maria Guadalupe Salinas, 64, in connection with the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Alamo Police Department.

The Alamo Police Department responded to the scene after multiple reports of an auto-pedestrian collision and discovered Aleman, who was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. Following a week-long investigation, authorities arrested Miguel Angel Salinas and identified Maria Guadalupe Salinas as a second suspect who was allegedly in the vehicle during the incident. Salinas appeared in the Alamo Municipal Court on Friday, March 13, where a judge ordered him held without bond on the manslaughter charge and set a $50,000 bond for the tampering charge. An arrest warrant remains active for Maria Guadalupe Salinas as the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the fatal hit-and-run.

National Legal Analyst Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that "What's truly haunting about hit-and-runs is the feeling of being abandoned in a moment of crisis. Most of these drivers are caught within forty-eight hours if there's any physical evidence left behind."

In the state of Texas, victims of hit-and-run accidents and their surviving family members have specific legal protections under the law. When a driver fails to stop and render aid, they may face both criminal prosecution and civil liability for the damages caused. Families of deceased victims may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of consortium, and emotional distress. An independent investigation conducted by a personal injury attorney is often the most effective way to ensure all liable parties are identified and held accountable. Consulting with an experienced legal team can help clarify rights and the potential for recovery through insurance or civil litigation.
