James Goodmote Killed in Warren Township Motorcycle Accident
The fatal collision occurred on State Route 212 near County Road 86
James Goodmote, 73, of Rootstown, was killed in a motorcycle crash on State Route 212 near County Road 86 in Warren Township on Saturday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The westbound Honda Civic crossed the center line and struck the eastbound motorcycle head-on. The car spun off the left side of the road into a guardrail, while the motorcycle, driven by Goodmote, went off the right side, hit a guardrail and slid down an embankment. Goodmote was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 32-year-old Dover resident driving the Honda suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Investigators suspect the Honda driver was impaired at the time of the collision.
The crash remains under investigation, and no formal charges have been announced.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the state recorded 216 fatal motorcycle crashes in 2024.
