John Randell Wiles Injured in Green Township Car Accident

The 74-year-old Pickerington man was hurt in a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Kingston Adelphi Road
John Randell Wiles, 74, of Pickerington, was injured in a three-vehicle car accident on Kingston Adelphi Road at Jadwin Road in Green Township, Ross County, Ohio, on Friday, April 3, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers cited a 45-year-old Kingston man for failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead. Investigators suspect distraction played a role in the collision, though the official inquiry remains ongoing.
A Chevrolet Colorado traveling southeast rear-ended a Kia Seltos that was slowing to make a right turn. The impact pushed the Kia into the path of Wiles' 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck, which was waiting to turn left onto Kingston Adelphi Road.
Paramedics treated Wiles at the scene for minor injuries. The drivers of the other two vehicles suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
Crews closed the intersection for approximately 75 minutes to clear the disabled vehicles.
Why did the collision occur at the Jadwin Road intersection?
The Ohio State Highway Patrol noted that distraction and following too closely contributed to the chain-reaction crash that struck Wiles' pickup. In car accidents such as this, crash reconstruction investigators frequently examine intersection dynamics and driver reaction times.
According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, the state recorded 46,780 traffic injuries in 2023, with intersection collisions representing much of those incidents.
What are the next steps for the injured drivers?
As Wiles recovers from the collision, insurance adjusters will likely begin evaluating the sequence of events that pushed the second vehicle into his truck. When analyzing car accidents, legal practitioners emphasize the importance of preserving scene evidence.
