Kaylee McWayne Killed in Adams Motorcycle Accident
The Rodman resident died after a pickup truck turned into her path at Caird Road
Kaylee M. McWayne, 17, of Rodman, was killed in a motorcycle crash at the corner of Fuller Road and Caird Road in Adams, New York, on Saturday, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
The northbound motorcycle collided with a pickup truck after the truck's driver turned left into its path, investigators said. The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. McWayne, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered fatal injuries in the collision and died, authorities reported.
The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office. No charges were immediately announced against the driver of the pickup truck.
According to the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research, 189 motorcyclists died in crashes across New York State in 2024. Motorcyclist fatalities accounted for 17% of all traffic death in the state that year.
