Margaret Govea Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident
The fatal collision occurred late Sunday night along North Lamar Boulevard
Margaret Govea, 64, was killed in a pedestrian crash on North Lamar Boulevard in Austin, Texas, on Aug. 9, according to the Austin Police Department.
The collision occurred about 11:18 p.m. in the 8500 block. The driver of the vehicle involved stopped immediately and is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been announced. Police continue to examine the scene to determine what led to the impact.
The crash marks Austin's 50th fatal traffic crash of the year. last year, the city had recorded 60 fatal crashes resulting in 64 deaths, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing.

While the driver remained at the scene, authorities will conduct a thorough reconstruction to determine fault. Investigators typically review lighting, vehicle speed, and right-of-way at the time of the collision.
