Theresa Evans Killed in Rancho Cucamonga Car Accident
The multi-vehicle wreck involved a subcompact SUV and a parked semi tractor-trailer on the 210 Freeway
Theresa Evans, 77, was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the 210 Freeway near Day Creek Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga on July 27, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The morning collision occurred when a dark-colored Toyota C-HR subcompact SUV struck the rear of a semi tractor-trailer parked on the right shoulder. The impact scattered debris across all westbound lanes. A black Toyota Camry then crashed into the center divider after potentially striking the wreckage.
Paramedics pronounced the passenger of the SUV, Evans, dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported. Troopers closed multiple lanes for hours to clear the wreckage and investigate why the semi-truck was parked on the shoulder.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), California recorded roughly 3,800 traffic fatalities in 2024.

Authorities will review electronic logging devices from the semi-truck and event data recorders from the passenger vehicles to determine the exact sequence of events. The California Highway Patrol continues to gather witness statements to establish liability in the multi-vehicle wreck.
