The three-vehicle collision occurred on U.S. 19 near Locust Avenue
Thomas B. Henderson, 70, of Worthington, was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 19 near Locust Avenue in Marion County, West Virginia, on Sept. 12, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred under daylight conditions near the Marion County Humane Society. A Honda motorcycle, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Chevrolet Camaro collided, ejecting the rider from his bike. Henderson died at the scene. Paramedics from the Marion County Rescue Squad and the Monongah Volunteer Fire Department arrived to find the rider had succumbed to his injuries before they could render aid.
Deputy Flanagan confirmed the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not released details regarding which driver was at fault or if any charges are pending.
The crash comes amid elevated motorcycle fatalities nationwide. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data show 6,335 motorcyclists died in traffic crashes in 2023, a slight increase from 6,251 in 2022.
