Wendy Grove Killed in Lexington Township Truck Accident

The 47-year-old Pennsylvania woman died after her vehicle collided with a semi-truck on state Route 225
Wendy Grove, 47, of Baden, Pennsylvania, was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck in the 13100 block of state Route 225 in Lexington Township, Ohio, on Monday, according to the Stark County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 12:32 p.m. after the semi-truck and a passenger car collided.
Emergency crews treated both people inside the car at the scene. Grove, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead. A passenger in the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital.
The driver of the semi-truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.
The Canton Metro Crash Team is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not released the cause of the collision.
The sudden loss of a loved one in a motor vehicle collision leaves families facing immense grief and complex questions about liability. While authorities work to determine why the vehicles collided on state Route 225, independent investigations are often necessary to preserve critical evidence.
Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, said, "Crash reconstruction begins almost immediately after emergency crews clear a fatal scene, and early documentation shapes everything that follows. Skid marks fade, debris shifts, and weather can alter physical evidence within hours."
"A legal team that moves quickly can help ensure nothing critical disappears before a complete and accurate picture gets assembled for surviving relatives," added Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News.
What factors do investigators examine in a state Route 225 truck crash?
Crash reconstructionists will review the semi-truck's electronic logging devices, the driver's hours of service, and physical evidence at the scene. According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, the state recorded 5,374 semi-truck crashes in 2023, resulting in 145 death.
How do commercial trucking regulations impact the investigation?
Because commercial trucks operate under strict federal guidelines, determining fault requires a thorough review of corporate safety records and vehicle maintenance logs. The preservation of this data is a time-sensitive process following a fatal collision.
Ohio wrongful death statute
Under Ohio Rev. Code § 2125.01, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. Ohio applies modified comparative fault (51% bar). The statute of limitations is 2 years.
Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of services and companionship, funeral expenses, and the estate's losses.
According to Stefano Formica, a national legal analyst for Accident News and of counsel at Bond Legal, "Guiding a grieving family through the wrongful death process takes more than legal knowledge alone. Legal counsel explains each stage clearly, keeps communication open, and ensures surviving relatives never feel left to face a complicated, emotionally demanding legal process alone."
