Adam McDaniel Killed in Hot Springs Pedestrian Accident
The Hot Springs Village resident was struck by a cement truck on US Highway 270
Adam Cole McDaniel, 42, of Hot Springs Village, was killed in a pedestrian crash on US Highway 270 at Exit 5B in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on Aug. 28, according to the Hot Springs Police Department.
A westbound Oshkosh cement truck struck McDaniel as he was walking along the highway at approximately 10:22 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Garland County Coroner's Office.
Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the collision. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
No charges have been announced.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Arkansas recorded 69 pedestrian deaths in 2024.
Why did the cement truck strike the pedestrian on US Highway 270?
Investigators will examine the cement truck driver's actions, the truck's speed, and visibility along the highway corridor.
In pedestrian accidents such as this, safety analysts point to the large blind spots and extended stopping distances of heavy-duty vehicles as critical factors.
