Aiden Marroquin Killed in Palmdale Car Accident

Four passengers suffer severe injuries in two-vehicle intersection collision on Avenue N
Aiden Marroquin was killed and four others were severely injured in a two-vehicle crash at Avenue N and 10th Street West in Palmdale late Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The nighttime collision occurred in a dark, multi-lane crossing. A southbound black Lexus LS400 and an eastbound white Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck entered the intersection simultaneously and collided, investigators said.
Both drivers died. The medical examiner identified Marroquin, a teenage boy, as one of the deceased victims who suffered blunt-force trauma.
Paramedics airlifted one passenger to a trauma center. Three other passengers were taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Detectives have not determined which driver had the right of way or if speed played a role. The crash remains under investigation.
California recorded 3,786 traffic deaths in 2024, according to the state’s Office of Traffic Safety, with intersections continuing to account for a significant share of the toll.
How common are fatal intersection crashes in Los Angeles County?
Intersection collisions account for much of California's traffic deaths, with state data showing thousands of severe injuries annually in these conflict zones. In car accidents such as this, crash reconstruction investigators often examine traffic signal timing and vehicle event data recorders to determine right-of-way.
Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, said, "After a fatal crash, investigators work to understand exactly what happened in the moments before impact. That reconstruction process shapes nearly everything that follows. The findings carry real weight, and they aren't always challenged the way they should be."
A legal team can bring in independent specialists to review that work, making sure surviving relatives have an accurate picture rather than simply accepting one version of events, added Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News.
What happens next in the Palmdale crash investigation?
The tragic loss of life leaves the community searching for answers as detectives work to piece together the final moments before the impact. Authorities will review surveillance footage and physical evidence at the Avenue N crossing to establish a timeline.
"A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their best interests are taken care of. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident," Stefano Formica, a national legal analyst for Accident News and of counsel at Bond Legal.
California wrongful death statute
Under Cal. Code Civ. Proc. § 377.60, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. California applies pure comparative fault. The statute of limitations is 2 years from the date of death.
Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and the decedent's pre-death pain and suffering.
