Amanda Garcia Killed in Colorado Springs Pedestrian Accident
The fatal collision occurred on Garden of the Gods Road near Northpark Drive
Amanda Garcia, 39, was killed in a pedestrian crash on Garden of the Gods Road near Northpark Drive in Colorado Springs on Aug. 19.
Garcia died at the scene after being struck by an eastbound vehicle just east of Interstate 25. The driver remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision, the Colorado Springs Police Department reported in a Wednesday news release.
The crash marks a localized increase in roadway deaths, outpacing the 37 traffic-related deaths recorded in the city at this time last year.
While the specific cause of the Garden of the Gods Road collision remains under investigation, traffic safety analysts note that urban multi-lane roads often present significant risks to pedestrians.
Investigators will review intersection geometry, lighting conditions, and right-of-way indicators to determine how the eastbound vehicle struck the pedestrian.

The 40 traffic deaths recorded in Colorado Springs so far this year represent an upward trajectory compared to the 37 deaths at the same point last year.
Colorado wrongful death statute
Under C.R.S. § 13-21-201, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. Colorado applies modified comparative fault (50% bar). The statute of limitations is 2 years from the date of death.
Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and net pecuniary loss.
