Angelina Sgarlata Injured in Waterloo Car Accident

Angelina Sgarlata car accident on State Route 96, Waterloo, New York

The two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of State Route 96 and Brewer Road

Angelina Sgarlata of Waterloo was evaluated for injuries after a two-vehicle car accident at the corner of State Route 96 and Brewer Road in Waterloo on April 12, according to the Seneca County Sheriff's Office.

An eastbound vehicle collided with a second car that pulled out into the intersection and failed to yield the right of way, investigators said.

Paramedics from North Seneca Ambulance evaluated Sgarlata and the driver of her vehicle at the scene. The driver and passenger of the eastbound car were transported to Geneva General Hospital for further treatment.

Deputies issued a uniform traffic ticket to the driver who failed to yield. The crash remains under investigation.

While the cause and liability of a crash are being investigated, it is important that a competent attorney handles investigations into cases such as this to ensure the rights of the victim are protected. Intersection collisions frequently involve complex liability determinations regarding right-of-way and vehicle speeds.

Formica has handled car accident cases across multiple jurisdictions and has observed recurring patterns in how these crashes unfold. Insurance adjusters often contact injured parties within days of a crash, before the full extent of medical costs and long-term impacts are known.

"The confusion after a sudden collision can make it hard to focus on healing," said Stefano Formica, Of Bond Legal"People don't realize their car's black box captures steering and braking data for the five seconds before the impact happens."

Victims like Sgarlata are injured in motor vehicle accidents across our country, and it is often not their fault. Independent investigations can help preserve critical evidence from the scene.

New York follows a pure comparative fault system with no-fault auto insurance. The statute of limitations is 3 years.

Under New York's no-fault system, PIP benefits cover medical expenses and lost wages up to $50,000 regardless of fault. To pursue a liability claim, injuries must meet the 'serious injury' threshold under Insurance Law § 5102(d).
