A 67-year-old man operating an asphalt roller was killed in a crash on Warncke Road in Lyons on October 20, New York State Police said. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
How the Warncke Road Crash Unfolded
Troopers from the state police station in Lyons were called to the crash at about 3:33 p.m. A southbound 2018 Subaru Legacy driven by Kelli M. Conrow, 22, of Lyons hit the back of a Caterpillar asphalt roller on Warncke Road, according to a preliminary state police investigation. The force of the crash threw the roller's operator from the machine, police said. Police said they found no signs of impairment.
What the State Police Unit Is Doing
A collision reconstruction team from New York State Police came to the scene to help with the investigation. No charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing. State police have not said when their review will be finished.
When police say a crash is still under investigation, it usually means they are still collecting evidence and have not reached any conclusions.

Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
