Cody Cudd Killed in Wise County Car Accident
The Boyd man died after his stopped vehicle was rear-ended on FM 51
Cody Cudd, 32, of Boyd, was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Farm to Market Road 51 near County Road 4797 in Wise County on Sept. 5, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The northbound Toyota Camry was stopped to make a left turn when a Chevrolet Silverado failed to control its speed and rear-ended the sedan. The impact pushed the pickup truck into the southbound lane, where it struck an oncoming Chrysler Pacifica. Cudd, who was driving the Toyota Camry, was taken to Medical City Decatur, where he later died from his injuries. The 19-year-old driver of the Silverado, along with the 53-year-old driver of the Pacifica and a 19-year-old passenger, were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by state troopers.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, single-vehicle and multi-vehicle crashes resulted in 4,150 traffic fatalities statewide in 2024.
