Daniel Nikov Killed in Mount Prospect Motorcycle Accident
The 31-year-old Des Plaines resident died after a Jeep SUV turned left into his path near Willoway Terrace
Daniel Nikov, 31, of Des Plaines, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Oakton Street near First Avenue in Mount Prospect, Illinois, on Saturday, according to the Mount Prospect Police Department.
The road was dark. A Jeep SUV exited First Avenue to turn left onto eastbound Oakton Street and collided with the westbound motorcycle in the median lane, investigators said.
Paramedics transported the rider to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead. The 19-year-old Carpentersville man driving the SUV was treated at the same hospital for minor injuries.
The Major Crash Investigation Team closed Oakton Street between Badger and Higgins roads for nearly six hours to examine the scene.
No charges have been filed. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the state recorded 142 motorcyclist death in 2022, with left-turn collisions remaining a frequent factor in intersection crashes.
