Enrique Flores III Killed in Ward County Truck Accident

Enrique Flores III truck accident on Farm-to-Market Road 1233, Ward County, Texas

The Crane resident died after an oncoming pickup struck a semi-truck and collided with his vehicle

Enrique Flores III, 40, of Crane, was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market Road 1233 in Ward County on Monday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌

The eastbound 2026 Toyota Tundra failed to maintain its lane and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking the left rear axle of a westbound 2017 Freightliner semi-truck. The pickup then collided with Flores's 2025 Ford F-250, which was driving behind the semi.

Both pickup trucks caught fire after the impact.

Flores and the driver of the eastbound pickup were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

What role do weather and road conditions play in rural truck crashes?

While the exact cause of the lane departure remains under investigation, early morning crashes on rural Texas highways frequently involve complex environmental factors. Weather-related visibility issues, morning glare, or slick surfaces can exacerbate the dangers of two-lane corridors like Farm-to-Market Road 1233, where heavy commercial traffic operates near to passenger vehicles.

Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News, said, "When a vehicle drifts across the centerline into the eastbound lane, the results are often catastrophic. Drivers traveling lawfully have nowhere to go."

How do investigators reconstruct multi-vehicle collisions?

"The days following a fatal roadway crash are overwhelming for surviving relatives, who are often expected to make important decisions while still in shock. An attorney can step in early, handle communication with insurance companies, and make sure no critical deadline passes before a family has had time to grieve," explained Stefano Formica, a national legal analyst for Accident News and of counsel at Bond Legal.

When a vehicle strikes a commercial truck and deflects into a third vehicle, crash reconstructionists must analyze a complex debris field. Investigators look at tire marks, the point of impact on the semi-truck's axle, and the subsequent fire damage to determine the exact sequence of events.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 36,640 people died in crashes in 2025, 6.7% fewer than in 2024, with the fatality rate ranking second‑lowest nationwide.

Texas wrongful death statute

Under Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 71.001, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. Texas applies modified comparative fault (51% bar). The statute of limitations is 2 years.

Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of companionship and consortium, funeral expenses, and mental anguish.
