Passenger seriously injured after motorcycle veers off Ohio 2 into a ditch
Kelcey Anne Koenig, 36, of Geneva, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Ohio 2 near North Ridge Road in Painesville Township on Monday night, according to the State Patrol.
The eastbound 2014 Harley-Davidson was driving along the left berm to pass other vehicles before the driver attempted to merge back into the travel lane. Investigators said the motorcycle then veered off the right side of the road and struck a ditch and an embankment.
Neither rider wore a helmet. Paramedics transported the passenger to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland for treatment of serious injuries.
The 41-year-old driver of the motorcycle was initially taken to University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center before being airlifted to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol is suspected as a cause in the crash. the crash remains under investigation by the Chardon Post of the State Patrol.
