The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The tragic death of Miranda Chuter highlights the severe consequences faced by pedestrians on roadways. Investigators will examine various factors, including the speed of the Chevrolet Silverado, road conditions, and any potential distractions for the driver. When analyzing collisions involving pedestrians, traffic safety analysts often look at infrastructure, vehicle type, and driver behavior. The area where the collision occurred on Highway 11 will also be assessed for visibility, pedestrian access, and other environmental elements. The fact that the commercial vehicle was not on an emergency call will be a key point in the investigation.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that "The loss of a loved one on the road is a pain that never truly goes away. Momentum equations don't lie; they help investigators see if a driver was speeding or braking before a fatal collision occurred."

Pedestrians are at an increased risk in accidents. Commercial vehicles like a Chevrolet Silverado can lead to more severe outcomes for pedestrians. Drivers of commercial vehicles receive training and follow safety protocols. This incident involving a Poplarville Fire Department vehicle requires a thorough review of the department's operating procedures and the driver's compliance.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, added that "What keeps me up at night is how much a few miles per hour changes everything for a walker. If a car's going forty, there is an eighty-five percent chance a hit will be fatal."
