How the Burris Road Pedestrian Crash Unfolded

Police received a call at 6:10 a.m. reporting that a man had been hit by a vehicle. The vehicle was a white Toyota Tacoma. Bystanders, police officers and fire personnel gave him aid at the scene before he was flown to a hospital in the Phoenix area.

Help for people affected by a crash is below.

Where the Casa Grande Police Investigation Stands

The highway was closed in both directions for a time while the department's Traffic Unit investigated. The driver of the Tacoma was not issued a citation. The incident remains under official investigation.

A long road closure after a crash usually means investigators are mapping the scene. They need everything left in place while they take measurements and photos.

Affected by an accident like this?

Here is what people in Arizona usually need, in the order it comes up.

  1. Emergency care. Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.

  2. Your belongings. A damaged bike, phone, or clothes can be part of what insurance pays for.

  3. Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.

  4. Hospital bills. Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.

  5. Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
