Princeton Welty Killed in Town of Lake Car Accident
Two others seriously injured after vehicle strikes tree on County Highway G
Princeton J. Welty, 17, of Crivitz, was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on County Highway G near Loomis Road in the Town of Lake, Wisconsin, on Saturday, according to the Marinette County Sheriff's Office.
A southbound vehicle failed to handle the bend, left the pavement, entered a ditch and struck a tree just before 11 p.m. The 16-year-old driver also died in the collision, while two other passengers suffered serious injuries, including one who was ejected from the vehicle. Welty, a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, was also killed.
Dispatchers were alerted by an automated smartphone crash notification. Emergency crews from multiple local fire departments and rescue squads responded to the scene.
The local school district is providing mental health professionals and support resources for students and staff. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and the medical examiner.
