Shantell Williams Hurt in Sanford Motorcycle Accident

Shantell Williams motorcycle accident on International Speedway Boulevard, Daytona Beach, Florida

Sanford business owner faces months of recovery after motorcycle collision during Bike Week

Shantell Williams, a Sanford restaurant owner, was seriously injured after a motorcycle crash in Daytona Beach during Bike Week. Williams said the crash happened after she left a gas station and turned onto International Speedway Boulevard when a driver pulled into her path. She remembered hitting the passenger side door of the car. The impact sent Williams flying off her bike, and a police officer told her she was thrown 20 feet from her motorcycle.

Williams is now healing in the hospital after she was injured in the crash. Doctors had to put two plates in each shoulder and two rods in her right shoulder and one rod in her left shoulder. Her recovery could take three to four months before she is able to walk again, according to doctors.

The Daytona Beach Police Department is handling the ongoing investigation into the mechanics of the collision. Initial reports, including statements from the responding officer, indicate that the impact force was sufficient to propel the rider approximately 20 feet from the point of collision. Investigators are expected to review traffic patterns and driver statements to determine if any citations are warranted. While the incident remains under review, no formal charges have been announced. International Speedway Boulevard is a major transit corridor in Daytona Beach, particularly active during the annual Bike Week event, and historical data suggests this corresponds with an increase in local traffic volume and incident rates.
