Terry Thomsen, 71, of Altoona, was injured in crash at Radio Road and Expansion Boulevard in Storm Lake, Iowa, on April 27, according to police.
A southbound 2014 Freightliner garbage truck collided with a westbound 2023 Ford Escape at the intersection. The impact trapped the driver of the SUV inside the wreckage. Firefighters extricated Thomsen from the vehicle. Paramedics initially took him to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center before transferring him to a Sioux Falls hospital with life-threatening injuries.
