Two Teens Injured in San Francisco Bicycle Accident

The collision involving a Daly City police patrol vehicle occurred at Velasco Avenue and Acacia Street in Visitacion Valley
Two teenagers were seriously injured in a bicycle accident when their e-bike was struck by a Daly City police patrol vehicle at the corner of Velasco Avenue and Acacia Street in San Francisco on Monday, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
Emergency crews arrived at the Visitacion Valley scene shortly after 2:20 p.m. to find a large response already underway, with firefighters treating at least one person on the ground beside the damaged electric bicycle. Both riders, identified only as an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old, were transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
The officer was driving westbound when the patrol car collided with the e-bike as it turned from the northbound lanes, investigators said. The Daly City Police Department confirmed the officer was on routine patrol and not engaged in a pursuit at the time of the crash.
The San Francisco Police Department is handling the ongoing investigation into the collision. No citations have been announced as authorities continue to review the circumstances of the crash.
Victims of collisions involving government or fleet vehicles often face complex recovery paths, especially when serious injuries require extensive medical care and community support. While the San Francisco Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash, independent legal analysis is important to ensure the rights of the injured riders and their families are protected.

Damages include economic losses (medical bills, lost income, rehabilitation) and non-economic losses (pain, suffering, emotional distress).
