Motorcyclist Killed in Huntington Beach Motorcycle Accident
The Orange County Sheriff's Department identified the motorcyclist as Brett Wayne Goucher, 33, of Westminster, who died after a crash on Newland Street.
A Westminster motorcyclist died after a collision with an SUV early Wednesday on Newland Street at Talbert Avenue in Huntington Beach. The Orange County Sheriff's Department identified him as Brett Wayne Goucher, 33.
How the Newland Street Crash Unfolded
Huntington Beach police officers were called at about 5:30 a.m. to a crash between a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Volkswagen Tiguan at the intersection. Officers found the rider in the roadway when they arrived, police said. The motorcycle was heading south on Newland Street, just north of Talbert Avenue, when it collided with the Volkswagen, police said. Goucher was taken to a hospital and died there.
What Huntington Beach Police Are Still Asking
The Volkswagen driver, a 57-year-old Garden Grove man, stayed at the scene, was not hurt and cooperated with investigators, police said. No charges have been announced. Police asked anyone who saw the crash, or what led up to it, to call the department's traffic investigator.
When police say a crash is still under investigation, it usually means they are still collecting evidence and have not reached any conclusions.

Here is what families in California usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
