Three men were struck in a pedestrian crash on Liming Van Thompson Road near Yankeetown Road in Brown County, where one died and two suffered serious injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
How the Liming Van Thompson Road Crash Unfolded
The crash happened at about 6:02 p.m. Authorities said a 65-year-old man was driving a 1999 GMC Sonoma pickup when it hit a trailer hooked to a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder that had broken down in the road. The impact pushed the Pathfinder ahead into three men who were working on it. The man who was killed has been identified as Shane Hull, 19, of Bethel. He was pinned against a 2022 Ford F-150 parked in the road, and he died after being taken to Mount Orab Mercy Hospital.
The other two men, a 70-year-old from Hamersville and a 19-year-old from Bethel, went to UC Medical Center with serious injuries. Authorities said the pickup's driver was not hurt.
Who Responded to the Brown County Scene
The patrol said the Brown County Sheriff's Office helped at the scene, along with Hamersville Fire and EMS, the Bethel Tate Fire Department, Mount Orab EMS and Air Evac EMS. The patrol has not announced any charges.
When police say a crash is still under investigation, it usually means they are still collecting evidence and have not reached any conclusions.
