San Jose city electrician fatally struck by truck while repairing streetlight
Ari Green, 50, of San Jose, was fatally hit by a truck at the corner of Hillsdale and Narvaez avenues in San Jose, California, on Tuesday, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Paramedics rushed the city electrician to a local hospital after another truck struck his stationary bucket truck, but he died from his injuries shortly after arrival. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Both local police and Cal/OSHA have launched investigations into the fatal collision. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the exact cause of the crash or whether weather conditions played a role.
Green worked for the city's Department of Transportation, where his crew repaired streetlights.
Green's family is planning a memorial service to honor his life. City officials also plan to recognize his public service at an upcoming city council meeting.
