Amanda Sue Wisenbarger, 36, of Columbus, suffered suspected serious injuries in a car and motorcycle crash at U.S. 23 and County Road 508 in Walnut Township, Pickaway County, on Oct. 23, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
How the U.S. 23 Intersection Crash Unfolded
The crash happened at about 6:10 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of U.S. 23 and County Road 508, also called Little Walnut Road. The patrol said a 2013 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Little Walnut Road. The driver, Miguel Angel Diaz Castaneda, 38, of Lockbourne, had three passengers, including two young children. The patrol said he did not yield at the stop sign before entering the intersection. The patrol said Wisenbarger was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob north on U.S. 23 and the motorcycle hit the side of the Honda.
Harrison Township EMS took Wisenbarger to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. The patrol said Diaz Castaneda and his three passengers were not hurt.
What the Highway Patrol Reported After the Crash
The patrol said troopers issued Diaz Castaneda a citation for a right-of-way violation on a through highway. The northbound lanes of U.S. 23 were closed for about 40 minutes while officers investigated and cleared the wreckage.
Investigators write down the weather, lighting and road surface after every serious crash. Recording those details is routine and does not point to any single cause.
