Corey S. Wren Killed in Spokane Valley Motorcycle Accident
The 50-year-old rider died after a pickup truck veered off the road and overcorrected into his path
Corey S. Wren, 50, of Spokane Valley, was killed in a motorcycle crash on State Route 290 near North Evergreen Road in Spokane Valley, Washington, on Thursday, according to the State Patrol.
The weather was clear and the road was dry when the collision occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m. An eastbound GMC Sierra pickup drifted off the right shoulder, overcorrected back into the travel lanes, and struck a Harley-Davidson traveling in the same direction, investigators said. The impact forced both vehicles across the center line and into the westbound shoulder.
Wren was ejected from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pickup driver, a 23-year-old Spokane man, was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.
No charges have been filed. Troopers determined drugs and alcohol were not factors, though potential charges are pending as the investigation continues.
East Trent Avenue was closed between North Pines Road and North Evergreen Road for several hours while crews cleared the wreckage.

Washington state has seen historically high motorcycle fatalities in recent years, with 113 riders killed in 2024 alone, according to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

Crash reconstructionists will examine the GMC Sierra's tire marks, steering inputs, and event data recorder to determine why the truck initially left the eastbound shoulder before overcorrecting into Wren's path. While impairment was ruled out, investigators will look into distracted driving, fatigue, or mechanical failure as potential causes.
