Dreana Walker Killed in Vallejo Pedestrian Accident
The 26-year-old was struck by a vehicle that left the roadway near Broadway and Mahogany Drive
Dreana Walker, 26, of Vallejo, was killed in a pedestrian crash near the corner of Broadway and Mahogany Drive in Vallejo, California, on July 30, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
The vehicle was driving on Tuolumne Street, entered the intersection at Broadway, and continued onto Mahogany Drive before leaving the road and striking multiple parked cars and Walker. Another person sitting inside a legally parked vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. Paramedics rendered immediate aid to Walker at the scene before transporting her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision.
Community members gathered at the intersection to light candles and leave messages honoring Walker. A formal candlelight vigil was scheduled for Thursday evening at the crash site.
The crash marks the ninth traffic death on Vallejo streets this year, authorities noted.

In 2024, 7,080 pedestrians died in traffic crashes across the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System, highlighting the persistent vulnerability of people walking near busy roads and intersections.
What evidence will investigators review in the Vallejo crash?
While police have ruled out impairment, crash reconstructionists will examine vehicle speed, mechanical function, and driver distraction as potential factors. The presence of multiple struck parked cars will help authorities calculate the vehicle's trajectory and velocity before it hit the pedestrian.

Under Cal. Code Civ. Proc. § 377.60, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. California applies pure comparative fault. The statute of limitations is 2 years from the date of death.
Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and the decedent's pre-death pain and suffering.
