Egarnoise Evans Killed in Cobb County Motorcycle Accident

The 23-year-old rider died after an SUV pulled into his path from a parking lot
Egarnoise Evans, 23, of Powder Springs, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Veterans Memorial Highway in Cobb County, Georgia, on July 1, according to police.
The Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is actively investigating the collision.
A 2018 Kia Sportage pulled out of a parking lot to make a left turn and entered the path of the westbound 2019 Kawasaki ZX636. The bike struck the driver's side of the SUV. The impact threw the rider from the motorcycle.
The Medical Examiner's Office pronounced the rider, Evans, dead at the scene. The 75-year-old Atlanta man driving the SUV was treated for minor injuries at Wellstar Cobb Medical Center.
The sudden loss has deeply impacted the local riding community.
The sudden death of a young rider often leaves families and communities searching for answers. For the loved ones of Evans, the emotional toll of this catastrophic collision is life-altering.
While police investigate the exact sequence of events, it is important that a competent attorney handles investigations into cases such as this to ensure the rights of the victim's family are protected.
Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, said, "Fatal left turn collisions often involve serious disputes over fault, especially when signal timing or roadway design plays a hidden role in the tragedy, making a thorough investigation essential."
"Legal teams pull traffic signal records, request event data recorder information, and consult crash reconstruction specialists to piece together how the crash unfolded, all while protecting surviving relatives from insurance pressure during an incredibly difficult period," added Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News.
Why did the SUV pull into the motorcycle's path on Veterans Memorial Highway?
Left-turn collisions and failure-to-yield incidents account for much of motorcycle death in Georgia. When analyzing motorcycle accident patterns, crash reconstructionists look closely at sightlines, vehicle speeds, and driver distraction.
What factors are investigators examining at a crash site?
Detectives will review skid marks, vehicle damage, and any available surveillance footage from the parking lot at 1130 Veterans Memorial Highway to determine exactly how the collision unfolded. The community impact of this loss underscores the severe risks riders face when other drivers fail to yield the right of way.
According to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the state recorded 221 motorcycle death in 2022, highlighting the severe risks riders face at intersections.
Georgia wrongful death statute
Under O.C.G.A. § 51-4-1, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. Georgia applies modified comparative fault (50% bar). The statute of limitations is 2 years.
Recoverable damages focus on the full value of the life of the decedent, including both economic and intangible losses.
"Left turns made by trucks, vans, or SUVs create serious danger for motorcycles, especially when a driver glances and assumes the road ahead is clear. Riders have little time to brake or swerve once a larger vehicle begins crossing into the path of traffic," noted Stefano Formica, a national legal analyst for Accident News and of counsel at Bond Legal.
"Legal counsel steps in after a fatal wreck to gather black box data, review statements, and pursue compensation for surviving relatives."
