Fabian Alexander Alonzo Killed in El Paso Car Accident
The 24-year-old passenger died after the pickup truck he was riding in struck two vehicles and a concrete pole on Loop 375
Fabian Alexander Alonzo, 24, of El Paso, was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Loop 375 near Interstate 10 on July 21, according to the El Paso Police Department.
A southbound white 2017 Toyota Tundra traveling at high speeds cut across all lanes of traffic, side-swiping a white 2022 Genesis before rear-ending a black 2013 Nissan Maxima. The impact caused the pickup to spin and crash into a concrete pole on the center barrier.
Alonzo, a passenger in the Tundra, died from his injuries. The driver of the pickup was also killed in the collision.
The drivers of the Genesis and the Maxima were not injured. Special Traffic Investigators determined that excessive speed and unsafe lane changes by the pickup driver caused the crash.
The deaths mark the 29th and 30th traffic death in the city this year, compared to 34 at the same time last year, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

Investigators are currently reviewing the sequence of events that led the Toyota Tundra to cut across multiple lanes of traffic before striking the concrete pole. Crash reconstructionists will examine tire marks, vehicle data recorders, and witness statements to determine the exact speed of the pickup prior to the collision.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, single-vehicle run-off-the-road crashes and speeding incidents account for much of the state's annual traffic death. In 2024, rural and high-speed corridor crashes caused hundreds of deaths across Texas.
