Francisco Lugo, 82, was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and North 43rd Street in Tampa, Florida, on July 26, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
First responders pronounced Lugo dead at the scene after a 911 caller reported the collision at approximately 12:26 a.m. Detectives later identified the driver of the northbound dark-colored Kia Sorento that struck him and fled.
Danielle Grant, 34, turned herself in at the Orient Road Jail on July 30. She was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death after investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest.
Sheriff Chad Chronister stated that fleeing a fatal collision is a choice and a crime, emphasizing the department's commitment to holding offenders accountable.
Lugo was using a walker to cross the intersection when he was struck.
