What caused the collision on U.S. Highway 49?

While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, authorities will examine the speed, lighting, and positioning of both northbound vehicles. National Legal Analyst Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, stated, "I've seen riders survive purely because their bike had modern safety features. Anti-lock braking systems on motorcycles reduce the risk of a fatal crash by over thirty percent, yet many don't have them."

How do investigators determine liability in a two-vehicle crash?

Insurance adjusters often contact involved parties within days of a collision, before the full extent of liability is established by law enforcement. National Legal Analyst Stefano Formica, Of Bond Legal, added, "When I hear about a rider being hurt, I think about how much physics is working against them. Anti-lock brakes on bikes reduce fatal risks by thirty-one percent, but they're still not standard on every model."

For the family of Bush, understanding the sequence of events that led to the fatal impact is a critical step in the recovery process.

Mississippi wrongful death statute

Under Miss. Code § 11-7-13, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. Mississippi applies pure comparative fault. The statute of limitations is 3 years.

Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and the estate's losses.
