Luciano Jaurergui Galvan killed in Carson car accident, CHP reports

Four-vehicle collision on the 710 Freeway leaves one dead, prompts hours-long closure
Luciano Jaurergui Galvan, 24, was killed in a four-vehicle car accident on the northbound Long Beach Freeway near the Del Amo Boulevard exit in Carson, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 1:01 a.m. Wednesday collision involved a white Kia SUV, a gray sedan, a dark-colored sedan and a black sedan in the middle lanes.
The crash left one car in an embankment. The collisions triggered airbag deployments across multiple vehicles.
Officers pronounced Galvan dead at the scene.
Authorities issued a SigAlert, closing all northbound lanes and the off-ramp for several hours. The road reopened at 5:30 a.m.
How do environmental factors affect freeway safety?
Investigators will examine how weather-related conditions and nighttime visibility contributed to the multi-vehicle pileup. In complex freeway crashes such as this, determining the exact sequence of events requires extensive reconstruction and data analysis.
Candice Bond, a National Legal Analyst, said, "Fatal motor vehicle accidents across the United States are often caused by a variety of factors, including excessive speed, distracted driving, and hazardous road conditions."
The California Highway Patrol will analyze skid marks, vehicle resting positions, and event data recorders to establish fault among the four drivers. When assessing liability in late-night collisions, environmental elements play an important role. "Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible cause that are considered and must be thoroughly examined," noted Stefano Formica, of Bond Legal
What happens next in the Carson crash investigation?
As the investigation continues, authorities will review toxicology reports and witness statements to determine if any driver faces criminal charges. Families of victims killed in motor vehicle accidents across our country often face immediate financial and emotional burdens while waiting for official crash reports to be finalized.
California wrongful death statute
Under Cal. Code Civ. Proc. § 377.60, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. California applies pure comparative fault. The statute of limitations is 2 years from the date of death.
Recoverable damages may include loss of financial support, loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and the decedent's pre-death pain and suffering. "A wrongful death claim allows grieving families to seek justice and secure the financial resources necessary to navigate their loss," Bond noted.
