How do speeding vehicles impact bicycle crash severity at intersections like 36th Street?

When a speeding driver flees the scene of a fatal bicycle collision, the ensuing investigation and search for the suspect can leave relatives searching for answers. Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News, said, "Surveillance video from nearby businesses, traffic systems, and residential cameras can disappear within days if not immediately secured. An attorney moves quickly to send preservation letters and subpoenas, ensuring critical footage is not deleted before an investigation can properly examine what the evidence shows."

What does Los Angeles County data reveal about hit-and-run frequency?

"Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve," noted Stefano Formica, a national legal analyst for Accident News and of counsel at Bond Legal.

Hit-and-run collisions remain a persistent challenge for law enforcement in urban corridors. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, bicyclists account for nearly 3% of all traffic death nationwide, with urban intersections representing the highest risk zones for severe impacts. Investigators will review surveillance footage and debris left at the scene to identify the specific vehicle involved.
