Morgan Svensson Killed in Seminole Motorcycle Accident

The crash occurred on Seminole Boulevard near 53rd Avenue North
Morgan Svensson, 45, of Largo, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Seminole Boulevard near 53rd Avenue North in Seminole, Florida, on Thursday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The northbound 2025 Tesla Model 3 entered a left-turn lane and crossed into the path of the oncoming 2006 Honda motorcycle. The resulting T-bone collision ejected the rider from the bike. Paramedics took the rider, Svensson, to HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Tesla driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
No charges have been filed. Investigators noted that speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, though the exact sequence of events remains under review by the Major Accident Investigation Team.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the state recorded 621 motorcycle fatalities in 2023.
Why did the Tesla turn into oncoming traffic on Seminole Boulevard?
The sudden loss of a loved one leaves families searching for answers, especially when a vehicle violates a motorcyclist's right of way.
Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, said, "Unsafe lane changes remain a leading cause behind serious motorcycle collisions because drivers fail to check blind spots before merging across busy lanes. A rider caught in such a gap has almost no room to react or brace for impact."
"Serving as an advocate, an attorney gathers helmet camera footage, roadway markings, and inspection reports to strengthen an injured claim," added Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News.
How does speed affect liability in a left-turn collision?
Left-turn collisions frequently highlight the imbalance between larger vehicles and smaller profiles. When speed is cited as a potential factor, insurance adjusters often attempt to shift blame onto the rider before a full reconstruction is complete.
Under Florida law, individuals injured due to another party's negligence may be entitled to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Individuals involved in motorcycle accidents may have legal options. Consulting a personal injury attorney can help clarify rights and potential claims.
Florida wrongful death statute
Under Fla. Stat. § 768.16-768.26, surviving family members may file a wrongful death action. Florida applies modified comparative fault (51% bar). The statute of limitations is 2 years from the date of death.
Recoverable damages may include loss of support and services, loss of companionship, mental pain and suffering of survivors, and medical/funeral expenses.
"A fatal motorcycle wreck often comes down to driver awareness and whether another vehicle cut across the rider's path without noticing them, said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.
Formica, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News, noted, "An attorney supports grieving families by pulling traffic camera footage and interviewing witnesses early on, helping establish the true facts before insurance adjusters try shifting blame onto the motorcyclist."
