How the Highway 52 Motorcycle Crash Unfolded
Georgia State Patrol troopers went to the intersection on Saturday afternoon after a car and a motorcycle collided. Investigators said James Fondren IV, 50, was turning left from Highway 52 in a 2019 Toyota 4Runner. Investigators said the SUV crossed into the path of Agans, who was riding a 2003 Triumph motorcycle. Agans hit the SUV and was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Lumpkin. He died there.
Where the Georgia State Patrol Investigation Stands
Fondren has been charged in connection with Agans' death. The investigation remains ongoing. No other details have been released.
An arrest at the scene is often only the first step. Formal charges are usually decided later by prosecutors.

Here is what families in Georgia usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
