Victorville, CaliforniaPublished 1 min read

A pedestrian was injured in a crash involving a commercial truck on northbound I-15 near Nisqualli Road in Victorville on October 13, according to the California Highway Patrol.

How the I-15 Truck Crash Unfolded

The incident was reported at about 3:06 p.m., between Nisqualli Road and Palmdale Road. A white tractor-trailer, bearing OTHI Express Inc. markings, sustained visible front-end damage. The pedestrian was found down on the right shoulder after being struck, and the big rig driver pulled over to the right shoulder. The No. 3 lane remained blocked while other lanes were reopened after all lanes were temporarily stopped, causing traffic to back up on the northbound freeway. A ground ambulance transported the pedestrian to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment of blunt force trauma and facial fractures.

Pedestrian Injuries Nationwide

An estimated 68,244 pedestrians were injured in traffic crashes nationwide in 2023, according to NHTSA.

Investigators often pull data from the vehicle itself, because onboard systems can record speed, braking, and steering inputs in the moments leading up to a pedestrian strike.

Affected by an accident like this?

We've gathered what people in California most often need after a crash, in the order it usually comes up.

  1. Emergency care

Emergency rooms must check and stabilize you, even if you can't pay. The bill comes later.

  2. Your belongings

A damaged bike, phone, or clothes can be part of what insurance pays for.

  3. Crash report

The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.

How to get your crash report

Rules and fees are set by each state. Pick where the crash happened and we'll show you how it works there.

  4. Hospital bills

Most hospitals have a program that cuts bills for people with low income, and you can apply months after the first bill.

  5. Insurance offer

You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
