Spokane police said a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on North Walnut Street on October 26.
What Happened Near North Walnut Street
Officers were called to the area of North Walnut Street and West Maxwell Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. Monday for a crash involving a car and a person on foot. Police said a woman had injuries that appeared to be life threatening when first responders arrived. Police said witnesses told officers the driver and the vehicle had already left. She was taken to a nearby hospital and died there from her injuries. Her name has not been released.
Where the Spokane Police Search Stands
Police said the department's Major Crimes Unit is investigating and searching for the driver. Police said no arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning. Using witness interviews and nearby surveillance footage, police said the vehicle was likely a black Ford Flex made between 2009 and 2019. Police said it likely has damage to the front quarter panel on the passenger side. Police asked anyone with information about the vehicle or the crash to contact the department's Major Crimes detectives.
Police often share a description of the vehicle they are looking for, such as its color or the damage it may have. Those details help people nearby recognize it.

Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
