Sam Houston State University student killed in tractor crash near Richards
Quinn Bosse, 21, of Washington, was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Farm-to-Market Road 149 in the Richards community of Grimes County on Aug. 19, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Investigators determined a westbound 2007 Chevrolet 350 pickup truck struck the back of a John Deere tractor. Troopers noted the pickup driver failed to control their speed before the collision. The tractor operator died at the scene near his family's ranch. He was preparing to start his senior year at Sam Houston State University.
Authorities have not publicly identified the pickup driver. Police have not said if criminal charges or citations will be filed as the investigation continues.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the state recorded 4,150 motor-vehicle traffic fatalities in 2024.
