Marcus Hicklin, 84, of Rock Hill, was killed in a pedestrian crash on McConnells Highway in Rock Hill on November 1, according to the York County Coroner's Office.
What Happened on McConnells Highway
Coroner's officials said they went to 4390 McConnells Highway in the early morning hours to look into the crash. The coroner's office said Hicklin was walking along the road when a vehicle struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
What the Coroner and Highway Patrol Are Reviewing
Both the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the York County Coroner's Office have opened investigations into what happened. The coroner's office said an examination and toxicology testing should wrap up this week, with results still pending. Officials have not released details about the driver or announced any charges.
Investigators write down the weather, lighting and road surface after every serious crash. Recording those details is routine and does not point to any single cause.

Here is what families in South Carolina usually need, in the order it comes up.
Death certificates. The funeral home or the family can order them, and banks and insurers each usually want a copy.
Crash report. The crash report is usually ready a few weeks after the crash, and you can still get it later.
Funeral costs. Every state has a victim fund that pays funeral costs after some crashes, and the fund decides who qualifies.
Survivor payments. If the person who died had worked, their spouse or children may get monthly Social Security payments. Applying early matters.
Insurance offer. You can turn down the insurer's first offer and ask for more.
