Three Injured in Garland Truck Accident

The crash occurred when an 18-wheeler struck a barrier and spilled cargo into oncoming traffic
Three people were injured in a crash involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 30 near Dalrock Road on Monday, according to the Garland Police Department.
The westbound collision involved a sedan and an 18-wheeler, causing the semi to strike the center concrete barrier. Cargo from the trailer spilled into the eastbound lanes, where a second vehicle struck the debris.
The eastbound vehicle carried four passengers, including two children. Paramedics transported three of the passengers to a local hospital for treatment.
Emergency crews shut down all eastbound lanes at Bass Pro Drive and westbound lanes at Dalrock Road while investigators processed the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
How did the cargo spill occur on Interstate 30?
Investigators are working to determine what caused the initial collision between the westbound sedan and the semi. In accidents such as this, crash reconstructionists examine skid marks, vehicle damage, and electronic logging devices to establish the sequence of events.
Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, said, "Piecing together what led to a catastrophic roadway collision often takes far longer than most people expect, especially when driver behavior, mechanical history, and pre-impact conditions all played a role."
"Attorneys working these cases coordinate with independent investigators, help families understand what findings mean, and fight to ensure every responsible party is held fully accountable," added Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Accident News.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 153,452 people were injured in large-truck crashes nationwide in 2023, with Texas consistently leading the country in vehicle collisions.
What are the next steps for the injured passengers?
Families facing medical bills and recovery often find themselves navigating complex insurance claims while still dealing with physical trauma.
For the passengers of the eastbound vehicle, understanding the full scope of liability between the trucking company and the westbound driver will be a critical component of their recovery process.
Texas personal injury framework
Texas follows a modified comparative fault (51% bar) system. The statute of limitations is 2 years.
Damages include economic and non-economic losses.
"Early settlement offers sometimes arrive before the full extent of injuries is even known. An attorney advises injured people to pause, get complete medical evaluations, and fully understand projected long-term costs before agreeing to anything that permanently closes the door," noted Stefano Formica, a national legal analyst for Accident News and of counsel at Bond Legal.
